A graceful and highly ornamental native wildflower, Nodding Wild Onion is easily recognized by its elegant clusters of drooping, bell-shaped pink to pale lavender flowers that bloom in mid to late summer. Each flower head nods gently on slender stems, creating movement and charm in meadows, prairies, rock gardens, and pollinator plantings.

Like all native onions, the leaves and bulbs have a mild onion flavour and aroma, although this species is most often grown for its exceptional beauty and ecological value. Blooming during the height of summer, it provides an important nectar source when many spring flowers have faded. Its drought tolerance and adaptability make it an excellent addition to naturalized landscapes and native gardens.

Nodding Wild Onion is deer and rabbit resistant while attracting an abundance of native bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.
