Cardamine concatenata
Cutleaf Toothwort
Cardamine concatenata
Limited Quantities
A charming native spring ephemeral, Cutleaf Toothwort emerges early in the season with finely divided, tooth-like leaves that give the plant its distinctive appearance. Clusters of delicate white to pale pink flowers bloom atop slender stems in early to mid-spring, adding subtle beauty to woodland floors before the canopy closes.
This species spreads slowly by rhizomes, forming small colonies in rich, undisturbed forests. Like many spring ephemerals, it completes its life cycle quickly, going dormant by early summer. The underground rhizomes have a mild peppery flavor and were historically used as a seasoning, similar to cress.
Cutleaf Toothwort is an important component of healthy deciduous forest ecosystems and pairs beautifully with other early spring wildflowers.
