Symphoricarpos albus
A very ornamental shrub with thin, smooth branches and small, rounded leaves. The small pink and white tubular flowers are found in small clusters at the ends of the branches. Round white spongy fruit with a dark end spot ripens from August to October and persists into the winter. Snowberry is larval host plant for the Hummingbird Clearwing moth (Hemaris thysbe). Shrub provides place for small birds to rest and nest and the fruit provides food for robins, thrushes, towhees, waxwings and grosbeaks. Branches are attractive in fall flower arrangements.
