Jeffersonia diphylla
This relative of Bloodroot has unusual bold leaves divided lengthwise into two leaflets which give this plant its common name. The white 8-petaled flowers appear briefly, later producing unusually shaped seed pods. A good planting companion for Trilliums and ferns.
