Red Raspberry
Rubus idaeus ssp. strigosus
Red Raspberry, scientifically known as Rubus idaeus ssp. strigosus, is a hardy deciduous shrub best known for its sweet and nutritious red berries. In late spring, clusters of small white flowers bloom, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies. By midsummer, these flowers develop into juicy red raspberries that are a favorite for wildlife and humans alike. The arching canes are lined with fine thorns and form dense thickets, providing excellent cover for birds and small mammals. Thriving in sunny locations with well-drained soils, Red Raspberry is a resilient and productive addition to naturalized landscapes and home gardens.
