Gray's Sedge

This perennial sedge is a versatile and adaptable plant that can be found in a variety of habitats, including woodlands, wetlands, grasslands, and near ponds and streams. It prefers moist soil conditions but can tolerate various moisture levels.

 

It thrives in partial sun with some shade and is ideally grown in organic soil, silt, or loam. It is a beautiful sedge with showy star/mace-shaped seed heads that add a unique and attractive quality to any garden. This plant typically grows to a height of 50cm.

 

The seeds of this sedge are highly attractive to many birds, including waterfowl, songbirds, and game birds, making it an ideal addition to any bird-friendly garden. It is an adaptable species recommended for rain gardens and low-light woodland gardens.
