Wild Ginger
Asarum canadense
Bold, distinctively heart-shaped foliage makes this native an indispensable plant for moist shade gardens. All parts of the plant contain volatile oils that have the odor of culinary ginger. Tea made from the roots has been used to relieve flatulence, colic and upset stomach. Makes an excellent ground cover, but spreads modestly.
